AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A police officer in Texas shot and killed a man who was retaining a child and woman hostage after breaking into their dwelling, authorities acknowledged.
The 21-twelve months-veteran man was retaining the boy in front of him “in a hostage residing” when a SWAT officer opened fire, killing the man, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley acknowledged. The 10-twelve months-veteran boy and the woman weren’t injured in the Wednesday night standoff, Manley acknowledged.
Investigators deem the man first crashed his car into a dwelling, then broke into a particular dwelling on the the same avenue, Manley acknowledged. The man then opened fire on responding officers, who weren’t struck by gunfire, he acknowledged.
The investigation is gentle in its early stages, Manley acknowledged, however authorities don’t deem there was any connection between the man and the two individuals he held hostage.
