Cut Diaz skips UFC 266 media day as fight week twists continue

The twists and turns of Cut Diaz’s comeback fight week continued Wednesday.

Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) was scheduled to assist UFC 266 media day before his deliberate rematch with Robbie Lawler (28-15 MMA, 13-9 UFC) on Saturday at T-Cell Enviornment in Las Vegas.

Before every thing scheduled to keep in touch with MMA Junkie and diverse media stores at 1 p.m. ET, Diaz did not advance on the UFC Apex till roughly 4 p.m. ET. UFC president Dana White told “The Jim Rome Hide” on Wednesday that Lawler has agreed, and the fight will proceed at a unique weight class. When talking to reporters at some level of his media day slot, Lawler talked about he’s appealing to fight and simply remarked, “It is what it’s some distance.”

Diaz hasn’t competed in MMA since January 2015, when he fought Anderson Silva to a unanimous choice loss. The result was overturned to a no contest when Diaz examined sure for marijuana and Silva examined sure for performance-bettering remedy.

Robbie Lawler has agreed to fight Cut Diaz at 185 kilos.

An eventual octagon comeback for Diaz has been talked about on and off for the past half decade. Fight week hi there-jinx weren’t overseas to Diaz at some level of his outdated UFC stint, and it looks to be to occupy picked up the place it left off.

Diaz will not be the main fighter who has opted to skip a UFC media day obligation. His youthful brother, Nate Diaz, did the identical thing before his UFC 241 fight with Anthony Pettis in July 2019, and others on the roster occupy adopted suit.
