Digital showcase to be held for African businesswomen in the Maritimes

To mark African Heritage Month, a virtual showcase of African feminine entrepreneurs from all over the Maritimes will be held Friday night.

The occasion will be free and open to any individual to employ part.

Ifeoma Esonwune, founding father of the Network for the Empowerment of Ladies, is an organizer of the occasion and has been working tirelessly to come by it off the flooring.

“The Halifax Business showcase is something I set together to contain a truly best time African Heritage Month,” Esonwune says. “I saw it as a possibility to contain a truly best time African females who contain been in business.”


The Halifax Digital Business Showcase is a possibility for African females in business and entrepreneurs to showcase and promote their work.

She says that in her line of work, she’s met many females who contain braced the impacts of the pandemic bravely.

“They took on roles of academics coupled with being mothers at house, with everything that is going on, and started businesses,” Esonwune says. “And they are thriving.”

The virtual showcase is a possibility to shed some gentle on these entrepreneurs, “and increase what they’re doing.”

One in all them is Hallimah Mufutau, the proprietor of local company Hallycraft Catering and Events.

“It used to be love a bridging hole for me and my community to connect,” Mufutau says.

“After I came into Canada in 2018, I used to be in actual fact craving for this African meals. … I factual wanted to contain my meals.”

She says one in all her chums told her that if she wants to come by that meals in Halifax, she has to make it herself.

“I started it my kitchen and it’s been, wow,” Mufutau says, as her business has taken off in the remaining 365 days.
