The ‘Coming 2 America’ star has praised the hair and makeup departments on film sets for their work, as he admitted he hates having to use as a lot as six hours a day in the makeup chair because most film audiences don’t “appreciate” the intricacy of special effects makeup.
Speaking about his expertise with film makeup during an appearance on ‘Motion images with Ali Plumb’, he said: “Each time I carry out it I say, ‘that’s the last time, I’m by no means doing this sever again’ and then I’ll web an idea and ‘Ah s, the place the makeup chair?’ and I’ll stay up sitting in the chair again but I by no means forget and it by no means will get any easier.
“The direction of didn’t web any easier on ‘Coming 2 America’ than on ‘Nutty Professor’, it’s tranquil six hours in the chair save it on and an hour and half to take it off after all individuals left at the stay of the day, you’ve had this sglued on your face for twelve hours and then you have to head and sit down and have them peel it off for an hour. It is work, it is drudgery and it’s even kind of thankless because the audience doesn’t appreciate it. If it’s really really really done suitable the audience doesn’t think ‘oh it’s a makeup, how mighty work is it?’ they lawful watch it, they web the laugh but they’re no longer seeing all the work that goes into it so that you kind of take it for granted you realize.”
Eddie admitted of us repeatedly “take for granted” the work that goes into special effects scenes, which makes it “personally rewarding” when of us carry out give it a “reaction”.
He added: “A perfect example of that is when I did ‘Nutty Professor’, it’s a scene the place all individuals is all spherical the table and sat in these makeups for hours and hours, it takes three hours to shoot a sequence, but I web an Oscar nomination for ‘Dreamgirls’ for one exiguous second, it was a scene the place I gave a person a gape and all the critics had been care for ‘Ah that gape that he gave! He may tranquil be nominated for that!’
“It’s care for, they take for granted all that other stuff but so mighty work goes into it and it’s kind of thankless, but it certainly is personally rewarding afterwards must you web a reaction.”
