He also confirmed that it is going to feature an older model of the cannibal killer Leatherface.
Fede advised Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew Podcast: “It is a direct sequel, and it is the same character. It is an worn man Leatherface.”
Alvarez also explained that the new mission is taking a traditional approach, especially with the gore gags, and is “very similar” to the first movie.
He said: “Every little thing is classic, worn faculty gags. A lot of the approach that we had with ‘Nasty Dead’ – by no means VFX, to accomplish the entire lot on camera. It is a very worn faculty approach to filmmaking. Vintage lenses … or no longer it is very similar to the original film.”
The new mission can be the ninth movie in the franchise and the first since ‘Leatherface’ in 2017. David Blue Garcia is directing the film – which was shot last year – from a script written by Chris Thomas Devlin.
Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Olwen Fouere, Alice Krige, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope and Jolyon Coy.
