BERLIN — Dozens of German rescue groups had been browsing Monday for missing people who witnesses said had been tossed real into a river in Bavaria’s Valley of Hell when a surprising flood tore down a bridge they had been standing on, the German info company dpa reported.

Police said rescue operations with about 150 law enforcement officers, firefighters and mountaineers had been underway and never lower than eight people had been pulled out of the water within the valley is mostly known as Höllentalklamm near Germany’s tallest mountain, Zugspitze.

“One has to plan end that more people are quiet missing,” spokesman Stefan Sonntag from the Greater Bavaria police headquarters advised dpa. The company later reported that it became seemingly two more people had been missing Monday evening.

He said witnesses advised them that several people had been carried away by the floods when the bridge collapsed after heavy rain on Monday afternoon.

The Höllentalklamm, or Valley of Hell, is a fashionable destination for hikers from all around the country and in a international country.
