Giga Chikadze feels he’s at the head of the featherweight division and wants his subsequent steps to resemble that.
The striking expert is asking to be a backup fighter for the upcoming title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega at UFC 266 on Sept. 25. And if that’s no longer seemingly, he welcomes a fight with former champion Max Holloway.
“I’m here to fight the absolute best fights and the finest names,” Chikadze acknowledged in his post-fight interview. “I would care for to duvet the title shot and be a replacement fighter. If no longer, any individual Hawaiian who’s within the division. He is conscious of my identify. I saw him doing interviews and he acknowledged something care for this, ‘Oh yeah I heard this Giga man who kicks.’ I’m no longer loyal a Giga man, I’m a man who kicks the sh*t out of individuals.”
For Chikadze (14-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC), it’s title shot or Holloway and nothing else. Alongside with his major event resolve over Edson Barboza at Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 30, Chikadze feels care for he’s accomplished more than satisfactory now that he’s 7-0 since joining the UFC.
“I’m no longer attracted to the rest,” Chikadze acknowledged at the post-fight press conference. “Worship why? Every person before this acknowledged no to me. I’ve been told that I’m going to fight a top-five man and then the title. The discontinuance-five man didn’t agree no one agreed and that’s why I fought Edson, who’s an even bigger identify than top five. So I are searching to leer myself on a top-five subsequent week ranking, top three in actual fact.”
