FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Jake Haener threw for 3 touchdowns and 331 yards and Fresno Insist started its 100th year of soccer with a 45-0 win over Connecticut on Saturday.
Haener left the contest on the Bulldogs’ first drive of the 2nd half because of the apparent leg cramps as temperatures on the area reached 120 levels.
Haener, a transfer from Washington, threw all his TD passes in the 2nd quarter and by intermission had 299 passing yards.
Haener threw a rapid crossing route to Jalen Cropper who weaved and outraced the protection for an 86-yard rating to make it 28-0 correct sooner than halftime.
Fresno Insist struck first with 2: 52 left in the principle quarter when defensive finish Arron Mosby sacked quarterback Zac Zergiotis, pressured a fumble then ran it abet 31 yards for a 7-0 lead.
Zergiotis threw for 61 yards.
The Huskies (0-1) made their first-ever day out to Fresno, California. The competition marked their first recreation since Nov. 30, 2019. The team’s closing win came about Oct. 26, 2019 when it beat UMass 56-35.
