A small, yet significant share of NBA history was made on Monday evening. While female officials have been prevalent in the NBA for a whereas, Monday marked the first time two females officiated the same game in league history.
Prior to the game, Hornets head coach James Borrego spoke about the momentous achievement.
“I gain it’s a special evening for our league and for girls,” he said. “I gape at any person care for my daughter, who will probably be watching tonight, and it’s a mammoth step. I care for that I’m a part of a league that is breaking barriers. Tonight, I’m proud to be a part of that game. It’s a beautiful thing. I do know my daughter’s proud and she’s watching and it evokes her and evokes youngsters, young girls to accomplish extra, be extra…and break those barriers.
“It’s fantastic. I gain it’s a beautiful thing (no longer suitable) for our league however for girls in general, our league in general, the basketball world and for young girls at some point of our world, our nation.”
Prior to the game, Fox Sports Southeast’s Ashley ShahAhmadi discussed the careers of both Jenna Schroeder and Natalie Sogo, the two officials.
