Manny Pacquiao’s worthy-anticipated showdown with Errol Spence is off after the unbeaten American suffered a torn retina in his left peek, organisers said on Tuesday.
World Boxing Affiliation welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas will exchange Spence and defend his title in opposition to the 42-one year-used Filipino southpaw, an eight-division world champion, on August 21 in Las Vegas.
Ugas had been scheduled to defend his title on the undercard.
“I’m very disappointed that I won’t be ready to fight Manny Pacquiao on August 21,” Spence, the Worldwide Boxing Federation and World Boxing Council champion, said in a press delivery.
“I used to be by the fight and the event. Sadly, the doctors discovered a creep in my left peek and said I needed to procure surgical treatment on it ASAP and that there used to be no manner I would maybe per chance fight with my peek in that situation.”
