The President’s Award, section of the world Duke of Edinburgh’s award, eminent 100 years for the reason that birth of its founder and patron, Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
With the passing of the Prince earlier this Twelve months on the age of 99, Qama Dyakala, the programme manager for the President’s Award for the Jap Cape had a pair of of his award candidates fetch 100 objects in honour of the Prince’s birthday, to be distributed to much less-resourced colleges in the discipline including Nomsamo Senior Secondary Faculty and Kutasa Blended Faculty.
Helping Dyakala on the dump were two other local President’s Award candidates, Sipho Thweni and Osisipho Mgqisha.
“Thanks to Wanda Madasa, the head lady at Kingswood Faculty, alongside with her team, for a out of the ordinary collection,” said Dyakala.
With the emphasis on hygiene, surplus objects were taken to the Port Alfred dump on Wednesday (Formative years Day) to distribute among the youth who live to remark the tale the dump.
“Sadly,” Dyakala said, “the youth didn’t support the hand-out. They belief we were canvassing for a political occasion in the upcoming elections, they on occasion said they weren’t .”
Then again, some younger youth did receive hygiene products and the food became distributed to the adults who attended.
