Smith’s single used to be produced by Grammy-nominated producer Guilty Beatz. The Ghanian DJ has worked with loads of incredible acts for the duration of his occupation, including Wizkid and Mr Eazi.

Smith shared that she met the a success tune producer at a writing camp in 2019. The pair finished the song remotely with Smith mentioning that Guilty Beatz has shared amapiano playlists with her sooner than.

SPARKLING HOUSE VS AMAPIANO

South Africans weren’t too chuffed about Jorja Smith dabbling in amapiano without the help and advice of amapiano producers in South Africa.

Several of our DJs and producers shared their frustrations on Twitter, thus sparking the ‘sparkling house vs amapiano’ debate.

DJ PH commented, “Sparkling house to the enviornment” under Jorja’s put up. Common hip-hop DJ, Venom emphasised that it’s no longer always considered amapiano if it’s no longer from South Africa.

If it’s no longer from Cognac (France) it’s no longer Cognac

If it’s no longer from from France it’s no longer Champagne

If it’s no longer from South Africa it’s no longer AmaPiano

Necessary person producer DJ Maphorisa bought involved in the conversation reiterating that it’s no longer amapiano if South African’s aren’t involved in the making of it.

“if u dnt involve us its no longer amapiano then belief me u cnt eat alone on amapiano its a gaggle motion but we dnt mind sharing thou”.

Maphorisa later revealed that he bought the original tune files from Jorja Smith’s group to invent a remix of the song.

“We fixing it honest bought the files to invent a remix i think this one needs De Mthuda his on his plan honest called him Amapiano to the enviornment”
