Dozens of Edmontonians gathered to disclose a proposed region for a contemporary crematorium in north-central Edmonton on Saturday.
The Trinity Funeral Home hopes to begin a contemporary region at 11406 119 Street. The building itself, which changed into once bought by the business in February, is across the avenue from homes.
“The last thing we could presumably like is smoke from a crematorium filtering into our neighbourhood,” acknowledged Gerald Younger, who lives in the Prince Rupert community, where the building has been proposed.
“Something has to be done. No person is against the crematorium… We understand the need nonetheless not across from residential. This is not the place to put it.”
An application has been put forward to metropolis council to commerce the zoning for the building from Medium Industrial Zone to Industrial Business Zone.

John Laureano, the president and co-owner of Trinity Funeral Home, acknowledged Saturday the business has been working to join with residents, including participating in community league meetings through Zoom this week.
“We ponder that there ought to be no reason for difficulty,” Laureano acknowledged. “Every crematorium is equipped with an afterburner. That afterburner is there to recombust any gasses which will likely be a results of the burning process.

She acknowledged she has also met with the intention’s community league and understands their considerations.

Laureano acknowledged that Trinity, which also operates three other services and products in the metropolis — two of which give cremation — is easy hopeful to catch the rezoning licensed and transfer forward with the mission.
