Danish rider Jonas Vingegaard will make his Tour de France debut in June after being called into the Jumbo Visma team on Monday to interchange Dutchman Tom Dumoulin who has stepped down.
Jumbo said the 24-year-historic would line up at the origin in Brest alongside two team leaders in Primoz Roglic, who came second final year, and Steven Kruijswijk who completed third in 2019.
This season Vingegaard has won a stage elope in Italy, the Coppi-Bartali Week, and used to be second within the Tour of the Basque Nation, won by Roglic.
“He has shown that he can play a extraordinarily vital position in high mountains, within the Alps and within the Pyrenees,” said carrying director Grischa Niermann.
“In concept, Jonas would be a candidate for a mammoth tour himself… But he wants time.”
Dumoulin, 30, who used to be expected to be within the team, announced initially of the year that he used to be taking a damage in his profession.

This year’s Tour de France will happen from 26 June to 18 July.
