Two individuals have been seriously injured when their gentle aircraft crashed on Windsor next to the Vaal River in Vanderbijlpark on Sunday afternoon.
THE LIGHT AIRCRAFT CRASHED ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the accident happened around 15H10 Sunday afternoon.
“When medics arrived on the scene, they came across a gentle aircraft that had sustained substantial damage after it was alleged the plane hit wires.”
Herbst said a man and a woman sustained serious injuries and have been treated on scene by paramedics.
“Once stabilised the man was flown by Netcare 911 helicopter to a specialist facility.
“The woman was treated and once stabilised transported to a hospital for further care.”
Meanwhile, a woman in her 30s sustained critical injuries earlier on Sunday.
She had to be airlifted to hospital after a store’s roof inside a Krugersdorp mall collapsed on top of her.
THE WOMAN WAS TRAPPED UNDER THE RUBBLE
ER24 ambulance providers and products spokesperson Ross Campbell said the incident happened around 12: 00.
“ER24 paramedics have been on the scene at 12: 12 along with GPG, Mogale Traffic, the Fireplace Department, and ER24’s Rescue One, who helped extract the trapped woman from the brick and rubble.”
Campbell said once the woman was extracted, she was treated with Advanced Lifestyles Enhance interventions.
“The woman was flown by another private service’s Medical Helicopter to the hospital for further care.”
He said it is unknown as to why the roof collapsed, but as stated, the Fireplace Department was on the scene for further investigations.
