United Airlines will require its 67,000 U.S. employees to get vaccinated against Covid-19 by no later than Oct. 25 or chance termination, a first for major U.S. carriers that will seemingly ramp up stress on rivals.
Airlines together with United had resisted vaccine mandates for all workers, instead offering incentives care for extra pay or day off to get inoculated. Delta Air Traces in May started requiring newly employed employees to be aware proof of vaccination. United followed suit in June.
United’s requirement is certainly one of many strictest vaccine mandates from a U.S. company and one that comprises employees who interact regularly with customers care for flight attendants and gate agents.

The mandate doesn’t apply to regional airlines that soar shorter routes for United.
Many of United’s employees have already reported they have been vaccinated, together with more than 90% of pilots and 80% of flight attendants, according to company officials. United didn’t declare the company’s overall vaccination rate.

Southwest Airlines didn’t say whether it plans to mandate vaccines but said there has been no change to its policy.
