WASHINGTON – A novel bipartisan invoice seeks to provide “Priority 2” refugee status for ethnic Uyghurs, “and others who are tormented by arbitrary arrest, mass detention, and political and spiritual persecution by the Chinese government.”
Four Representatives: Ted Deutch (D-FL), Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Jennifer Wexton (D-VA), and Chris Smith (R-NJ), introduced the invoice this week, calling to expedites their ability to apply for refugee status and asylum within the US.
“As Jews and as American citizens, now we own a faithful accountability to act,” Earn. Deutch told the Jerusalem Put up in an announcement. “I’m happy with our country’s storied history of offering refuge to oppressed other folks, however as a Jew, I’m additionally keenly responsive to our previous failures to welcome refugees in time to establish them.”
