It’s been an eventual day for the Democratic Alliance (DA). Transport and Public Works MEC and provincial leader Bonginkosi Madikizela resigned on Wednesday, adopted by DAWN leader, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo.

Dr Nomafrench Mbombo resigns
As reported by SABC Knowledge, Western Cape Successfully being MEC, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo resigned as the DA Girls’s Community Federal leader – a dilemma she has held since 2018 – on Wednesday, 28 April 2021.
Dr Mbombo joins an extended line of DA leaders who selected to step down from their roles, including Mmusi Maimane, Herman Mashaba, Nosimo Balindlela, Lindiwe Mazibuko, and now Bonginkosi Madikizela.
DA in the Western Cape confirmed Mbombo’s resignation, explaining that she can live to protest the tale the provincial cupboard as Successfully being MEC, per provincial chairperson Jaco Londt.
“I will be succesful to verify that Mbombo has resigned as the DA’s Girls’s Community Federal (leader), her deputy, Arlene Adams, will step in and assist meetings”.
No reason for resignation offered
Her message, which was considered by Occasions Dwell, reads: “DAWN deputy leader will be attending federal council [the party’s highest decision-making body] and lead DAWN until a time original leadership is elected.
“I’m resigning as DAWN federal leader”.
Mbombo has no longer yet cited a reason for her resignation and party spokesperson Siviwe Gwarube may perhaps no longer be reached for clarification at the time of publishing.
South Africans react
The reaction on social media, on the opposite hand, has been reasonably telling, with some South Africans highlighting their belief that the Democratic Alliance is a “white racist party”. One client, Collen Gwebu, tweeted:
“Bonginkosi Madikizela has resigned as DA Western Cape leader and Western Cape Successfully being MEC Professor Nomafrench Mbombo has moreover resigned as DA Girls’s Community Federal leader. Shaded of us in the DA: We warned you an extended time in the past that the DA is a white racist party”.
One more aged said: “Africans continue to be casualties in the DA. Dr Nomafrench Mbombo has resigned as DAs females’s community nevertheless she remains keeping a the dilemma of properly being MEC”.

Bonginkosi Madikizela’s resignation
Madikizela, the Transport and Public Works MEC and provincial leader resigned from both positions on Wednesday after backlash over his qualifications. Madikizela reportedly lied about his BCom stage.
DA provincial chairperson in the Western Cape, Jaco Londt, said the party respects Madikizela’s “option and the honourable route he has taken by stepping down as leader”.
“This reveals the definite distinction between the DA and ANC”.
Following Madikizela’s resignation, Albert Fritz will continue in his feature as the acting provincial leader until the party holds elections at the Provincial Council in Could well.
